Platewise

Cooking timeline for a whole meal.

A multi timer tells you when something is done. Platewise tells you when to start. You set the time you want to serve, pick your dishes, and it works backwards into a single timeline: what goes in the oven when, what goes on which hob, what can wait and what needs doing now.

The engine is not a countdown. Roasting times come from weight and doneness including the rest, boiling times are corrected for the boiling point at your altitude (from the barometer or set by hand), and the plan is fitted to your number of hobs and one oven temperature. If two oven dishes clash on temperature it says so and pulls one forward. If you are running late, it replans the whole meal around the new serving time.

WHAT IT DOES

  • One timeline for the whole meal, worked backwards from serving
  • Dish catalogue plus a roast by weight, doneness and resting time
  • Boiling point correction by altitude: at 1500 m potatoes really do take longer
  • Hobs and oven as a constraint, with a clash warning and a suggestion
  • "Running late": move the serving time and everything moves with it
  • Notifications with vibration for every step, even with the app closed
  • Five languages and a glance showing the next thing to do

WHAT IT NEEDS

  • Nothing. Everything is worked out on the watch: no phone, no account, no internet
  • The barometer is used for altitude; you can also enter it yourself
